World Politics Research Center of Chenghai Institute of Global Development and Security was established at the School of International Relations, Renmin University of China, in 2019. The first Annual Conference on Historical Political Science was held in 2020, and the first Workshop on Historical Political Science in 2023, all of which have received an enthusiastic response and strong support from academia. To further advance the development of the academic community for political science and historical political science, and in particular to promote academic exchange and innovation among young scholars, the School of International Relations and the Chenghai Institute will jointly host the 2nd Workshop on Historical Political Science and the Young Scholars' Annual Conference on Historical Political Science in Beijing from August 27 to 30, 2025.
The 2nd Workshop on Historical Political Science will be held from August 27 to 29, 2025, featuring a mix of lectures and seminar sessions. It will be taught by renowned experts from disciplines including political science, history and economics.
The Young Scholars' Annual Conference on Historical Political Science will be held on August 30, 2025, centering on presentations and commentaries. Young scholars and postgraduate students from political science and all disciplines of the humanities and social sciences are invited to submit papers. The topics include but are not limited to: New Methods and Perspectives in Historical Political Science; A Historical Political Science Study of State-Building and State Capacity; A Historical Political Science Study of Bureaucracy and Political Elites; A Historical Political Science Study of Democracy and People-Centered Governance; A Historical Political Science Study of Central-Local Relations; A Historical Political Science Study of State-Society Relations; A Historical Political Science Study of Government-Market Relations; and The Modern Transformation of Traditional Chinese Political Thought.
Young scholars and postgraduate students attending the conference are requested to prepare a personal CV and a conference paper, and send them to the email address dpsruc@126.com on or before July 15, 2025. The subject line of the email should be clearly marked as "Workshop - Affiliation - Name". The organizers will conduct a review and announce the list of selected participants. Scholars are not required to submit multiple entries, and the authors of papers selected for the Young Scholars' Annual Conference on Historical Political Science are eligible to participate in the Workshop on Historical Political Science in principle.
There is no registration fee for either the Workshop or the Young Scholars' Annual Conference. The organizers will cover the accommodation and meals of the participants, while the round-trip transportation expenses shall be borne by the participants themselves.
