Second Announcement for the 1st "World Political Science" Workshop 2025

To cultivate academic talent in World Political Science and advance the development of related disciplines, the Chenghai Institute of Global Development and Security at Renmin University of China (hereinafter referred to as the Chenghai Institute) plans to hold the 1st "World Political Science" Workshop in the summer of 2025, and is now recruiting young scholars and doctoral students from across China to participate with immediate effect.

This workshop is themed on the disciplinary paradigm of World Political Science. All applicants with a keen interest and a certain research foundation in World Political Science studies are welcome.

The workshop invites young scholars and doctoral students currently pursuing their degrees from institutions of higher education and research institutes. There are no restrictions on the applicants' educational background, professional field, gender or age, and priority will be given to those with academic backgrounds in Political Science, Area and Country Studies, and National Security Studies.

This workshop aims to guide participants in analyzing the basic concepts, disciplinary foundations and core logic of World Political Science, and to explore the theoretical and policy implications of the World Political Science paradigm from the perspectives of disciplinary development and academic research.

A distinguished panel of senior experts in the field of World Political Science will be specially invited to deliver thematic lectures for the workshop. These lectures will focus on guiding participants to understand the World Political Science paradigm and fostering their research interests at the conceptual, theoretical and methodological levels. The workshop will also organize group discussions, which will draw on participants' respective academic backgrounds and research interests to enhance their theoretical analysis capabilities and comprehensive academic literacy.

The workshop plans to recruit 15 to 20 participants and will be held at Renmin University of China from July 3 to 4, 2025. The Chenghai Institute will provide research stipends for all participants. The organizer will separately notify selected participants of logistical arrangements including the exact schedule, venue, catering arrangements and expense allocation.

Applicants shall send their application emails to rucwpc@126.com, with the email subject titled as Name + Affiliated Institution. The email must be accompanied by a personal resume (PDF format) and a scholarly work (Word format) of 8,000 to 10,000 Chinese characters. The work should demonstrate the author's writing proficiency, especially logical expression and analytical abilities.

The submitted work may be a completed thematic paper, which shall be written based on the research concepts or paradigms of World Political Science with no restrictions on the title. It may also be a learning reflection on existing research outcomes of World Political Science (relevant outcomes can be found on the official WeChat account of the Chenghai Advanced Institute), which shall conduct discussions in combination with the author's existing and future research plans.

Applications are open upon the release of this announcement, with the deadline on June 20, 2025.

The organizer will invite experts in relevant fields to review the application materials. The list of selected participants will be publicly released on or before June 30, 2025, or the selected participants will be notified individually.
