On March 10, 2026, Ai Ping, former Vice Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and Wei Zheng, Secretary-General of the China Society of Remote Sensing Applications, led a delegation to Renmin University of China. They held discussions with the School of Global and Area Studies of Renmin University of China on the in-depth integration of regional and country-specific studies with emerging technologies such as remote sensing and artificial intelligence, as well as disciplinary development. The delegation also visited and toured Chenghai Institute of Global Development and Security.

Zhou Zikuan, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Society of Remote Sensing Applications, members of several relevant professional committees of the Society, as well as representatives from member units including the Remote Sensing Think Tank, SpaceTY Co., Ltd., 21st Century Aerospace Technology Co., Ltd., and the Regional and Country Spatiotemporal Intelligence Innovation Research Institute of the State Key Laboratory of Xinhua News Agency, accompanied the visit. 

During the symposium, participating experts and scholars had in-depth exchanges on specific applications in areas including country-specific studies, regional conflicts and situation awareness, environmental change and natural disasters, overseas asset security, interdisciplinary cooperation, and talent development. 

After the meeting, accompanied by Professor Di Dongsheng, Deputy Director-General of Chenghai Institute of Global Development and Security, former Vice Minister Ai Ping and his entourage visited the Institute and spoke highly of its research achievements in global development and security studies.
